This adapter ONLY FITS Sump Pumps It does not fit other types of pumps. NOTE: The 3/4" and 1-1/2" spec DOES NOT refer to thread size. It refers to the inside pipe diameter. Sump Pump Plastic Garden Hose Adapter Type ABS Plastic ..... 1-1/2" MIP (Male) to 3/4" (GHT) Male Corrosion-Resistant Thermoplastic Construction Help Below for Picking The Correct Size Many buyers order the wrong size adapter because they fail to make this one important effort: Before purchasing, do a Google search for the make and model of your pump. The pump specs will specify the size of your pump's discharge outlet. Taking a measurement across the threads or the mouth of a plumbing fixture will dupe you into buying the wrong size every time! See NOTE below for a more information on this. Pick The Right Size: Be Advised There Are Two Common Sizes. Sump Pumps have usually either 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" discharge outlets.  Since these measurements refer to the inside diameter of the pipe and the walls of PVC pipe add another 1/4" or so, the sump pump's discharge outlet inside diameter will be about 1-1/2" for 1-1/4" pipe and about 1-3/4" for 1-1/2" pipe. If your sump pump discharge outlet hole (inside diameter) measures about 1-3/4 inch, then this is the correct size hose adapter for your pump. If you sump pump discharge outlet hole (inside diameter) measures 1-1/2 inch, then you need a 1-1/4" to 3/4" adapter. I also sell this adapter. NOTES: Plumbing sizes refer to the inside pipe diameter, and not a measurement across the threads or the mouth of a plumbing fixture. The walls of PVC pipe are 1/8 inch thick and you have walls on both sides of the measurement, which adds 1/4 inch to the measurement. That's why the measurement across the mouth of a 1-1/4 inch adapter measures 1-1/2 inch and NOT 1-1/4 inch. See my ad photo showing this measurement taken across the mouth of this adapter?
